Example 1 — A Simple 2-Ore Mix
12 units of a 2.5x-multiplier ore + 8 units of a 1.5x-multiplier ore
Combined Multiplier = (12×2.5 + 8×1.5) ÷ (12+8) = (30 + 12) ÷ 20 = 2.10x
Since the higher-multiplier ore makes up 60% of the total quantity, the combined multiplier lands closer to 2.5x than to the midpoint of 2.0x — exactly what the quantity-weighted formula predicts.
Example 2 — A 3-Ore Mix With a Trait Check
10 units of a 3x-multiplier ore + 6 units of a 1.8x-multiplier ore + 4 units of a 1.2x-multiplier traited ore (total quantity 20)
Combined Multiplier = (10×3 + 6×1.8 + 4×1.2) ÷ 20 = (30 + 10.8 + 4.8) ÷ 20 = 2.28x
Trait share = 4 ÷ 20 × 100 = 20%

Example 3 — A Full 4-Ore Combo (Even Split)
10 units each of a 2x, 1.8x, 1.5x, and 1x-multiplier ore (total quantity 40)
Combined Multiplier = (10×2 + 10×1.8 + 10×1.5 + 10×1) ÷ 40 = (20+18+15+10) ÷ 40 = 1.58x
With four ores split evenly, the combined multiplier lands almost exactly at the plain average of the four multipliers (1.575x plain average vs. 1.58x quantity-weighted here) — an even split is the one case where quantity-weighting and simple averaging produce nearly the same result.
