What Each Threshold Unlocks
  • 40: This support shows up in training more often, and skill-hint pop-ups (clicking their icon) become more likely.
  • 60: Bonus stat-gain story/event pop-ups become available on top of normal training gains.
  • 80 (gauge turns orange): Rainbow / Friendship Training unlocks — training at this support's matching facility now grants a significant stat-gain multiplier. This is generally the biggest single jump in training value.
  • 100: Maximum bond — full training bonus and event availability for this card.

Sessions Needed ≈ Bond Remaining ÷ (7 × rarity multiplier). The +7 bond/session figure is a community-sourced average for training at a support's matching facility — actual gain per session varies, and random support events (+5 or +10 bond) or skill-hint clicks can speed things up further. The SSR/SR/R rarity multiplier (1.15 / 1.00 / 0.90) is a rough approximation for unique per-card effects, not an exact published rate — individual SSR cards with training-effectiveness or friendship bonuses may gain bond noticeably faster than this estimate. This models trainee↔support-card bond (friendship), a different mechanic from the trainee-character "Bond Level" system.

Category Range What It Means Status
0–39 Bond Base training frequency Support card appears in training at the normal baseline rate. Skill hints are possible but at the lowest chance tier. Poor
40 Bond Training frequency + skill hints increase Crossing 40 bond noticeably raises how often this support shows up in training sessions and increases the chance of a skill-hint pop-up when you click their icon. Okay
60 Bond Bonus stat-gain events unlock Additional story/event pop-ups become available that grant extra stat gains beyond the normal training numbers. Good
80 Bond Rainbow / Friendship Training unlocks The bond gauge icon turns orange ("rainbow"). Training at this support's matching facility now grants a significant stat-gain multiplier plus bonus friendship-training effects — generally the single biggest stat-efficiency jump in the whole bond curve. ★ Best
100 Bond Maximum bond Full training bonus and event availability for this support card. Further training sessions no longer increase bond but keep granting the max-bond training bonus while it stays above 80. ★ Best
Facility training (matching support) ≈ +7 bond / session (avg.) Training together with a support at its matching facility (e.g., a Speed-type support at Speed training) grants roughly 7 bond points on average per session — the most common way bond accumulates. Good
Random support event +5 or +10 bond (typical) Story/event pop-ups that appear randomly during a turn grant a flat bond amount, commonly 5 or 10 depending on the event. Good
Skill-hint icon click Small bond gain Clicking a support's special hint icon (when available, more likely once past 40 bond) often grants a small amount of bond in addition to the skill hint itself. Okay
Rarity gain-rate note SSR often faster than SR/R (approximate) Bond gain is not uniform across rarities. Many SSR cards carry unique effects — event-effect-up, boosted starting friendship, or training-effectiveness multipliers — not present on SR or R versions of similar cards, so an SSR can reach the same threshold in fewer sessions. This calculator applies a rough, clearly-labeled adjustment for this rather than treating all rarities identically. Okay

Source: Bond/friendship mechanic thresholds and average per-session gain figures aggregated from gametora.com (Uma Musume support card database and beginner's guide) and game8.co ("How to Increase Bond Levels" guide). These are community-documented mechanic thresholds, not an official per-card numeric formula — Cygames has not published an exact bond-gain crosswalk table, and individual support cards (especially SSR) can have unique bond-related effects that shift the real numbers.

Worked Examples

Fresh Support Card, Just Started

Current Bond
15
Rarity
R
25 bond to next threshold (40) — ≈4 sessions at +7/session

40 − 15 = 25 bond needed. At an average of 7 bond per matching-facility training session, 25 ÷ 7 ≈ 3.6, rounded up to 4 sessions.

Approaching the Rainbow Threshold

Current Bond
62
Rarity
SR
18 bond to next threshold (80) — ≈3 sessions at +7/session

80 − 62 = 18 bond needed. 18 ÷ 7 ≈ 2.6, rounded up to 3 sessions. This is the most valuable threshold to reach since it unlocks Rainbow/Friendship Training.

SSR Card Near Max Bond

Current Bond
88
Rarity
SSR
12 bond to max (100) — ≈2 sessions at the SSR-adjusted faster rate

100 − 88 = 12 bond needed. Applying the SSR approximate +15% gain-rate adjustment (many SSR cards carry friendship or event-effect bonuses), effective gain ≈8/session, so 12 ÷ 8 ≈ 1.5, rounded up to 2 sessions.

Already Past 80, Topping Off to Max

Current Bond
82
Rarity
SR
18 bond to max (100) — ≈3 sessions at +7/session

This card has already unlocked Rainbow/Friendship Training at 80. The remaining 18 bond to reach 100 is optional polish — training bonuses are already active.

Starting From Zero on a New R Card

Current Bond
0
Rarity
R
40 bond to first threshold — ≈6 sessions at the R-adjusted slower rate

40 − 0 = 40 bond needed. R cards get no rate bonus in this model (rate multiplier 1.0), so 40 ÷ 7 ≈ 5.7, rounded up to 6 sessions.

How to Use This Calculator

  1. 1

Enter your support card's current bond gauge value

The number shown on the card's bond/friendship gauge in-game, from 0 to 100.

  2. 2

    Select the support card's rarity

SSR, SR, or R — used only to apply a rough faster/slower gain-rate approximation, not an exact per-card formula.

  3. 3

Read the next threshold and bond needed

The calculator shows how much bond is left to the next unlock (40, 60, 80, or 100) and an estimated number of training sessions to get there.

  4. 4

Check the full threshold table and mechanic explainer

See bond-needed and session estimates for every remaining threshold, plus what each one unlocks, in the reference table below the result.

What Each Value Means

Bond Gauge (bond points)
The 0–100 friendship meter between your trainee and an individual support card, raised mainly by training at that support's matching facility, random support events, and skill-hint clicks.
Bond Threshold (gauge value)
A specific gauge value (40, 60, 80, or 100) at which a new game mechanic unlocks for that support card, such as increased training frequency or Rainbow/Friendship Training.
Estimated Training Sessions (sessions)
A rough count of how many training sessions, at the average bond-per-session rate for the selected rarity, it would take to close the remaining gap to a given threshold.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this the same as the trainee character's Bond Level?
No — this calculator is scoped to the friendship/bond gauge between your trainee and an individual support card, sometimes called "affinity." Uma Musume also has a separate "Bond Level" mechanic between your trainee character and other trainee characters (rivals, friends) met during training, which uses different triggers and rewards. This tool does not cover that trainee-to-trainee mechanic.
Why doesn't this calculator show the exact stat gain I'll get at each bond level?
Because there isn't one universal number to show. Exact stat rewards per bond level vary by individual support card — especially SSR cards, which often carry unique effects like event-effect-up, boosted starting friendship, or training-effectiveness multipliers that SR and R versions don't have. Cygames hasn't published a single stat-gain-by-bond-level crosswalk table, and community trackers that attempt one are card-specific, not universal. Showing one number here would imply false precision, so this tool focuses on the thresholds and session estimates that are actually consistent across cards.
What actually happens at 80 bond?
The bond gauge icon turns orange, signaling that Rainbow (Friendship) Training has unlocked for that support at its matching training facility. Training there now grants a significant stat-gain multiplier on top of the normal training numbers — widely considered the single biggest efficiency jump in the whole bond curve, which is why most guides treat 80 as the priority target over maxing every card to 100.
How much bond do I gain per training session?
Training together with a support at its matching facility (for example, a Speed-type support at Speed training) grants roughly 7 bond on average per session, though this varies by card and event roll. Random support event pop-ups typically grant a flat +5 or +10 bond, and clicking a support's skill-hint icon (more likely to appear once you're past 40 bond) often adds a small amount too.
Does support card rarity actually change how fast bond builds?
Yes, but not by one fixed universal percentage — this calculator applies a rough, clearly labeled approximation (SSR faster, SR as the baseline, R slightly slower) to reflect that many SSR cards carry unique friendship or training-effectiveness bonuses. Treat the session estimates as directional planning numbers, not a guaranteed count, since the real rate depends on the specific card and events you roll.
